Elective Group Training Classes
Our elective classes follow the traditional series based group training class system where you start and end on certain dates. All dogs looking to enroll in one of our elective classes must be up-to-date on Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations prior to the first class, and should not exhibit aggressive behavior on leash, such as excessive barking, lunging, or snapping, towards people or other dogs. Dogs with these behaviors should enroll in our Head Start Private Training Program or our Fresh Start Board & Train Program instead.
Agility in Small Spaces
A five-week group class for dogs aged six months or older that showcases agility-based exercises that you can easily perform at home where space might be extremely limited. Agility is more than just ‘doing the obstacle,’ and this class delves into some of more of the detailed aspects of the sport.

A More Confident Canine
A five-week group class for dogs aged four months or older aimed at building a dog’s self confidence as well as educating owners on how to successfully guide their dogs through situations that make them nervous, anxious or fearful.

Calm Conduct
A five-week group class for dogs aged five months or older focused on transitioning your dog from being overstimulated and out of control to becoming calm and well-mannered. We focus on developing and nurturing a calm state of mind rather than rewarding for the simple compliance of an obedience command.

Canine Good Citizen Prep
A six-week group class for dogs aged six months or older who are currently enrolled in Mastering Manners (Level 3) or above. This class covers all 10 testing items of The American Kennel Club (AKC) Good Citizen test during the first five weeks and then utilizes the sixth class to conduct the actual test. Dogs who pass the test will receive the appropriate documentation to submit to the AKC for their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title.

Delayed Reinforcement
A five-week group class for dogs currently enrolled in Sharpening Skills (Level 2) or higher that want to focus on cutting down their rate of reinforcement with treats and/or toys. We specifically discuss the four quadrants of learning and utilize more food/toy markers to our tool belt in order to help delay reinforcement as to not frustrate our dogs and ultimately keep them working for longer periods.

Door Dashes & Crashers
A five-week group class for dogs aged four months or older who struggle with bolting through open doorways, excessively jump on guests and/or struggle with calming down with company at the house. For the first three works of class, we will work on foundational skills to both prevent and manage these behaviors from occurring and then spend the last two weeks practicing them with actual volunteers.

Fit Dog I
A four-week group class for dogs aged one year or older who are looking for an additional physical and mental challenge. Through a series of beginner obstacles and behaviors, we will assess your dog’s overall fitness in order to improve upon their overall condition as well as enhance their overall quality of life.

Focus & Pattern Games
A five-week group class for dogs currently enrolled in Sharpening Skills (Level 2) or higher that are looking to improve upon their dog’s focus in a group setting and ultimately, the real world. These games will also aide in enhancing their overall communication between you and your dog in order to make daily training more successful.

Fun-gility
A four-week group class for dogs aged six months or older who are looking to test their capabilities in an agility environment. We will spend the first two weeks introducing the dogs to all of the various equipment in order to ensure they are comfortable and confident. We will then move in to actual agility courses in the last two weeks of class. It is beneficial for dogs to take Agility in Small Spaces before enrolling in Fun-gility, but it is not a requirement.

Hiking Etiquette
A four-week group class for dogs aged one year or older who want to join the Logically Canine Hiking Club. The club meets once a month from April to November at various hiking trials around the Farmington Valley area and occasionally beyond. During this class, we review important behaviors and skills that our dogs need out on the trial in order to create a safe, fun environment for all members of the club.

Intro to Nose Work
A six-week group class for dogs aged four months or older who want to experience the fun and exciting sport that is nose work. This introductory class will spend the first few weeks building up the dog’s drive to search, develop a start line and create a routine. We will then shift from searching for food to signaling to the odor of birch towards the end of the class.

Leash Pullers Anonymous
A five-week group class for dogs aged four months or older that prefer to pull their owners on walks and lack general leash skills. In this class, we will help you teach your dog to start walking on a loose leash more consistently by implementing methods and techniques that show your dog that staying at your side is much better than pulling ahead. We will also cover the pros and cons of different tools that you can use to help you with your loose leash walking journey and begin to prepare you for how to handle more difficult distractions out in the real world.

Leash Pullers Anonymous II
A four-week group class for dogs who have successfully graduated from Leash Pullers Anonymous I, are currently enrolled in Boosting Behaviors (Level 4) or above or are a graduate of our Fresh Start Board & Train Program. Each week, we will meet at a different location around Farmington Valley in order to practice your dog’s loose leash walking skills in the real world.
$200 plus tax

Movement Puzzles
A four-week group class for dogs currently enrolled in Sharpening Skills (Level 2) or above who want to be challenged mentally. Movement puzzles are based on the concept of Vito’s Thinking Game. We start off with easy puzzles and then continue to increase in difficulty. Movement puzzles are not only fun, but are also a great way to drain your dog mentally as well as provide them with a creative outlet at home.

Nailed It
A five-week group class for dogs currently enrolled in Building Basics (Level 1) or above who either currently struggle with successfully clipping their dogs nails and/or for owners who want to learn how to do it properly at home. Many owners are unable or uncomfortable with clipping their dogs nails, often leading to stressful situations at the vet, groomer, etc. This class will help to provide you with cooperative care techniques to help make this process easier.

Obstacle Conqueror
A four-week group class for dogs six months or older who love to run, jump or simply explore their environment in fun ways. We encourage dogs to use their bodies to complete various obstacles courses of increasing difficulty each way to not only exhaust them physically but also challenge them mentally.

Parkour Foundations
A five-week group class for dogs currently enrolled in Sharpening Skills (Level 2) or above who have the confidence to use their bodies to explore the world around them. The exercises that we cover during this course will be based on the skills derived from The International Dog Parkour Association. For the first two weeks, we will cover the foundational skills of this unique dog sport before taking them out into various locations within the Farmington Valley area.

Puppy Playgroup
Our Puppy Playgroup is considered a drop-in class rather than a series. We offer our playgroup two to four times a month depending on interest. Puppies between the ages of 8 to 24 weeks and that have age appropriate vaccinations are able to attend. During our playgroup, we discuss appropriate socialization, appropriate play behaviors and body language signals, recall and learning calm behavior.

Sport Pup Pop-Up
Our Sport Pup Pop-Up is considered a drop-in class rather than a series. We offer two to four sessions a month depending on interest, and each session has a different sport dog theme. Topics can include but are not limited to: agility, fit dog, focus and pattern games, movement puzzles, nose work, obstacles, parkour, rally, retrieves and tricks. This is often a great way to test the waters for a particular sport before signing up for the entire class.

Rally for Beginners
A five-week group class for dogs currently enrolled in Mastering Manners (Level 3) or above who are interested in the sport of rally. Rally is an obedience based dog sport where you and your dog navigate through a 10-20 different sign course. Each sign providing instructions on what skill to perform.

Reactive Remedy
Our Reactive Remedy elective is considered a drop-in class rather than a series. We offer two to four sessions a month depending on interest. We meet at a different location within the Farmington Valley area and work one on one with owners who are learning how to navigate their reactive dog in the real world. We keep each session limited to only 4 spots in order to ensure individualized attention.

Ready, Set, Recall!
A five-week group class for dogs aged four months or older who want to work on all things related to coming when called (i.e. recall). This can either be to establish a solid recall right from the beginning or learning how to start increase the reliability of a current recall. Depending on the progress of the students, there may be an opportunity to go on a field trip to a local state park to practice recall on a long leash in the real world.

Reliable Retrieves
A five-week group class for dogs aged four months or older who have moderate to high drive retrieving toys but need help establishing a more formal retrieve. In this class, we help to pattern a more reliable retrieve so that your dog learns how to bring the item back as well as generalize to retrieving more objects than just toys.

Shed Antler Hunting
A five-week group class for dogs who have successfully graduated from Reliable Retrieves. We take all of the foundational work we started in Reliable Retrieves in delve into the fun sport of Shed Antler Hunting. In this class, we help our dogs learn how to search and retrieve antlers.
