Core Obedience Program
Flexible Training Progression
Our classes are structured based on levels rather than series, allowing students to graduate to the next level once they meet specific behavior criteria.
All dogs over the age of 4 months start at Building Basics, regardless of previous training experience. However, those with foundational training can progress quickly through the appropriate levels.
Puppies under 20 weeks start in Polishing Puppies until they graduate and then transition to Building Basics.

Attendance Suggestions & More
While it’s recommended to attend at least once a week, participants have the flexibility to attend as frequently or infrequently as they wish. This means that you are able to attend your dog’s designated class level twice a week if it fits with your schedule. However, it’s essential to note that the longer the gap between classes, the longer it will take to progress through the levels.
Polishing Puppies: Dogs must be between 8 to 20 weeks old and have age-appropriate vaccinations.
All Other Classes: Dogs 4 months and older are welcome, provided they have Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations. Additionally, they should not exhibit aggressive behavior on a leash, such as excessive barking, lunging, or snapping towards people or other dogs.
Classes are limited to six dog-handler teams to ensure personalized attention and optimal learning.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must demonstrate proficiency in the following behaviors, progressively increasing duration, distance, distraction, and diversity, and transitioning toward real-world applications:
Sit
Down
Stay
Loose leash walking
Come
Appropriate greetings of people

Group Class Schedule
Due to the ease of flexibility with a level based group class system, you are able bring your dog to their designated class level once a week, twice a week or skip a week without having to worry about a make-up session. We recommend enrolling in at least 5 classes at your dog’s current designated class level at a time to ensure you have a space. Otherwise, due to popularity of certain class times or demand for certain levels, you may be blocked out if you chose to enroll only one session at a time. The trainer will indicate when you are ready to advance to the next level.

Elective Group Training Classes
Our elective classes follow the traditional series based group training class system where you start and end on certain dates. All dogs looking to enroll in one of our elective classes must be up-to-date on Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations prior to the first class, and should not exhibit aggressive behavior on leash, such as excessive barking, lunging, or snapping, towards people or other dogs. Dogs with these behaviors should enroll in our Head Start Private Training Program or our Fresh Start Board & Train Program instead.

Busy Bodies & Minds
Interested in how to achieve a “healthy tired” state for your dog, addressing both their physical and mental exercise needs?
While walks and play cover their physical requirements, stimulating their minds is equally crucial.
In our Busy Bodies & Minds class, we pose the question: How can we challenge your dog’s mental agility in safe and enjoyable ways, simultaneously enhancing your bond? Each week, we’ll delve into a new topic, exploring activities like dog sports (agility and nose work) and body and confidence-building exercises on obstacle courses.

Is your dog finding it challenging to stay calm in various situations?
Our Calm Conduct class offers a valuable opportunity to transition your dog from being overstimulated and out of control to becoming calm and well-mannered.
Throughout the course, we’ll work on developing predictable patterns, curbing barking and jumping, teaching the importance of settling on a mat, and improving leash manners around other dogs and people.
Additionally, we’ll discuss ways to incorporate impulse control activities into your daily routine, providing clarity and structure for your dog at home to navigate their strong feelings in the real world.

Intro to Nose Work
Have you ever wondered about the significance of your dog’s sense of smell?
In our class, we’ll explore how this essential sense makes your dog feel good, boosts confidence, and provides a mentally stimulating exercise, suitable for dogs of all temperaments, health stages, and age ranges.
In the initial weeks, we focus on building your dog’s drive to search for food, incorporating elements like a start line, establishing routines, and teaching you to interpret your dog’s body language. As the class progresses, we transition from searching for food to signaling for the odor of birch.

Leash Pullers Anonymous
Are walks with your dog in public marred by continuous leash pulling? Do they eagerly pull towards people, other dogs, wildlife, or simply irresistible scents, leaving you with sore arms and an unenjoyable walking experience?
Our Leash Pullers Anonymous class is here to help. We’ll guide you in teaching your dog to walk consistently on a loose leash, employing methods that demonstrate the benefits of staying by your side instead of pulling ahead.
The class covers the pros and cons of various tools for loose leash walking and prepares you for handling more challenging distractions in the real world.

Ready, Set, Recall!
Is getting your dog to come when called proving to be a challenge?
In our Ready, Set, Recall! course, we address this crucial behavior by starting with a question: What recall word will work best for your dog? We emphasize charging up the importance of that chosen word to make it highly valuable for your dog. Through various exercises, we’ll incorporate the recall word to prompt faster returns.
While we introduce distractions toward the end of the class, we highly recommend taking the second part of this series, which will delve into refining this skill with higher levels of distractions and in new environments.
